2010 Toyota RAV4 Electric SneakToyota and Tesla are teaming up! These are the first teaser pictures of the RAV4 EV, an all-electric version of the popular SUV set to debut at the LA show next week.The concept uses a electric powertrain developed in conjuction with electric pioneer Tesla, although expect less performance than the ballistic 288bhp Tesla Roadster. Toyota is serious about this concept too, and has already pencilled in a US launch for 2012.
In May, Tesla and Toyota announced their intent to cooperate on the development of electric vehicles and parts, and on production systems and engineering. Tesla seeks to learn and benefit from Toyota’s engineering, manufacturing and production expertise, while TMC aims to learn from Tesla’s EV technology, quick decision-making and flexibility. Toyota plans to announce the vehicle’s specifications, including cruising distance and performance figures at a press conference at the show's press day on November 17.
